General Information

The Forestry Department aims to provide an associate degree education in topics such as trees, afforestation, forestry, forest management, forest products, nursery techniques, forest ecosystems, bedrock and soil properties, wildlife, forest maintenance and protection, promotion, production, and marketing of forest products, medicinal and aromatic plants, solid and panel wood products, timber and its derivatives, introduction of wood materials, and energy production from renewable resources.


The Forestry Department was established in 2018 within the Technical Sciences Vocational School of Iğdır University. Currently, the only program available within the Forestry Department is the Hunting and Wildlife Program, which was launched in 2019 and began admitting students in the 2021-2022 academic year.

Our goal is to train technical personnel who have basic knowledge in the forestry sector, act in accordance with relevant legislation, take responsibility as team members in solving problems, are equipped with technical knowledge, and can use the knowledge and skills they have acquired in the sustainable management, ecological, economic, and social protection, and operation of forest resources.

To enter the profession, candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and obtain a sufficient score (TYT) in the University Entrance Exam.

According to higher education law, to succeed in the Forestry Department's Hunting and Wildlife Program, it is a prerequisite to complete 120 ECTS credits. Upon successful completion of the program's first condition and meeting other qualifications, an associate degree in Hunting and Wildlife is awarded.

Graduates who successfully complete the Forestry Department's Hunting and Wildlife Associate Degree Program can be employed as "Wildlife Technicians" and "Forest Protection Officers" within the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks, and provincial organizations in all provinces.

Additionally, they can work as consultants in Environmental Consulting Firms and energy companies operating on natural resources.

Furthermore, they can manage hunting management and monitoring activities in private and state-owned hunting grounds.
