Hunting and Wildlife Program
General Information
The Hunting and Wildlife Program was established in 2019 within the Forestry Department of Iğdır University Technical Sciences Vocational School. The program started accepting students in the 2021-2022 Academic Year.
Students who come to the Hunting and Wildlife Program, whose language of instruction is Turkish, must take 120 ECTS courses according to the Bologna criteria. Therefore, in order to graduate, a student must pass at least 120 ECTS courses and have a GPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.0. In addition, it is necessary to pass all compulsory courses (including internship) in the course curriculum.
Students who graduate from the Hunting and Wildlife Program, with this knowledge and experience;
• Absorbs the concepts of hunting and wildlife and can observe the balance between these two concepts,
• Can make management plans for human activities to be planned in any wildlife area,
• Can recognize and inventory living groups in a wildlife area,
• Knows the legal status of hunting and hunting and can follow the implementation stages in the field,
• Can detect, evaluate and offer solution suggestions for the possible effects of a business planned to be established in a wildlife area on wildlife,
• Can plan and manage a hunting activity to be carried out in a hunting area in terms of time and space,
• Can collect information about the biological and ecological status of wildlife elements and provide training to people at all levels of education,
• Can monitor game animals, target and key species in the wildlife area and keep their records in accordance with the relevant institutions,
• Can work on research and development projects related to wildlife elements.

Double Major / Minor Programs
Double Major Program: Allows students to earn a bachelor's degree in a field they are interested in, in addition to their primary field. In this program, students can complete courses in two different fields and earn a diploma in both fields.
Minor Program: Allows students to take a certain number of courses in a field they are interested in, outside of their major. Students who complete the minor program are given an official certificate in that field; however, this does not mean a second undergraduate degree.

Exchange Programs
It offers students the opportunity to study at another university, either domestically or abroad, for a certain period of time. Thanks to these programs, students have the opportunity to learn about different cultures, develop their foreign language skills and gain international academic experience. The most common exchange programs include programs such as Erasmus+, Mevlana and Farabi.
Career
According to the law on higher education, in order to be successful in the Forestry Department, Hunting and Wildlife Program, the completion of 120 ECTS credit courses is a prerequisite. When the first condition of the program is successfully completed and the other qualifications of the program are met, an Associate Degree in Hunting and Wildlife is obtained.
Our students who graduate from here can transfer to undergraduate programs (Department of Forest Engineering and Department of Wildlife Ecology and Management) if they get the required score from the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) organized by the Student Selection and Placement Center.
Graduates who successfully complete the Forestry Department Hunting and Wildlife Associate Degree Program are employed as “Wildlife Technicians” and “Forest Conservation Officers” within the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks and in provincial organizations in all provinces. They can also work as consultants in environmental consultancy firms and energy companies operating on natural resources. They can also manage hunting management and monitoring activities in private and state-owned hunting grounds.
