Technical Trip from TBMYO: Visit of Hunting and Wildlife Program Students to Taşburun Village in Aralık District

On December 23, 2024, a technical trip was organized to Taşburun Village in the Aralık district by the academics and students of the Hunting and Wildlife Program at Iğdır University Vocational School of Technical Sciences, in cooperation with the Iğdır Branch Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks. As part of the trip, a practical study of the course "Wildlife Inventory Techniques - I" was conducted.


Within the scope of the "Collection of Traditional Knowledge Based on Biodiversity" study, students conducted oral interviews with the villagers and recorded the plant and animal species traditionally used in the region. This field study is of great importance for understanding the region's biodiversity and passing on traditional knowledge to future generations. The technical trip aimed to provide students with preliminary experience for the public services they will perform after graduation.


​In the second part of the technical trip, a visit was made to Taşburun Secondary School together with the officials of the Iğdır Branch Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks. During this visit, Dr. Belkıs MUCA YİĞİT from the Hunting and Wildlife Program and the nature conservation officials provided information to the students to instill awareness of nature conservation. Additionally, various information was given to raise awareness about the conservation and sustainable use of wildlife in the region. Middle school students were given the opportunity to observe birds through a telescope. 


​Officials from the Nature Conservation and National Parks Branch Directorate stated that such activities enhance students' professional skills and increase their awareness of nature. 


Academics noted that the technical trip was productive for both students and the local community, emphasizing the importance of such field studies in education.
