Food was left for wild animals on Pamuk Mountain

On December 16, 2024, a meaningful event was organized on Pamuk Mountain to alleviate the difficulty wild animals face in finding food during the winter months. The event was led by academics from the Hunting and Wildlife Program. Officials from the Iğdır Provincial Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry provided guidance on site selection and food placement processes. The Rector of Iğdır University, Prof. Mehmet Hakkı Alma, also participated in the event, emphasizing the importance of nature conservation awareness.

During the event, food was left for wild animals in suitable areas of Pamuk Mountain. Bones and offal were placed for mammals, while wheat and corn seeds were scattered for birds. Ministry officials provided guidance on placing the food in the correct locations and maintaining the natural order of wildlife.

In his statement during the event, Rector Prof. Mehmet Hakkı Alma highlighted the university's sensitivity to protecting natural life, saying, “It is our responsibility to maintain the natural balance and facilitate the lives of wild animals. Such events are of great importance in instilling environmental awareness in both students and the community.”

This event, led by academics from the Hunting and Wildlife Program and supported by Rector Alma, was an important experience for students to reinforce their responsibilities towards nature. Iğdır University will continue to raise awareness with projects that contribute to nature and wildlife.
